4 Beneficial Acids for your Skin

If you’re anything like me you consistently stalk the isles at the beauty boutiques such as Sephora looking for the next best product to help you age later, a lot later. Some will say that skincare is trending but to be honest, honey it’s been trending. I mean think about it, your skin is the largest organ of your body and it’s the only skin that you have for your entire lifespan. You can’t get a full body skin implant so it’s important that you take great care of your skin. You must learn how to love the skin you’re in and learn the ways it communicates to you so that you know just how to treat it. Everyday when talking to clients the one commonality that they have is that before starting their journey of maintaining healthy skin they had no true skincare regimen. They washed their face occasionally or barely when they were in the shower and that was with just plain water at times. The horror you must imagine that was on my face. This is a perfect place to start because it will be easier to comprehend once you start noticing the results of your consistency with your self-care routine and you newly found acid products.

It’s so important that we understand that we will not always have that beautiful skin that we were born with. Life is going to drain you and stress you beyond recognition and you must be armed with the best, to not look like what you've been through. This my beauties, starts with your nutrition and excels at the beauty counter. Makeup will not cover up bad skin it’s just going to highlight it. What you need to know is what to look for when you get to the beauty store that way you can leave with arsenal to keep your skin looking and feeling hydrated and beautiful. First things first you must get on a consistent skincare regimen (cleanser, exfoliant, serum, toner and moisturizer). Here is where you will need to know what to look for specifically for your skin type. Whoever told you that acids are not good for your skin lied to you. Yes! I said it, they lied to you. To take your skin to another level you must implement a beneficial skincare acid product into your regimen. The results are amazing. Now, before you scream in horror let’s talk about these acids and how they are great for your skin. This will help you as you stroll the isle deciding what skincare products to get.

  1. Glycolic Acids exfoliates the skin at it’s surface which helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It will minimize hyperpigmentation. It’s an aggressor to wake our skin up to bring back that radiant glow. It's a must have in your skincare regimen. You can find glycolic acids in cleansers, toners, and exfoliants. I prefer to have it in my cleansers because I can knock two birds out with one stone during my cleansing process.

2. Salicylic Acid exfoliates inside the pores. This lovely acid helps build up the collagen, elastin and treats breakouts and rids our pores of the bacteria that cause the breakouts and acne. This is really beneficial for me when I see that my skin is congested. Salicylic acids are found in many products. It's really beneficial as an exfoliant due to it will remove the dead skin cells at the surface then penetrate inside your pores to clean from the inside out.

3. Hyaluronic Acid pulls the moisture from the air into your skin. It keeps you hydrated and glowing. This acid attracts water molecules to the skin to give it a light moisture. I love to seal my skin with a hyaluronic acid moisturizer due to it keeps working by pulling the moisture from the air. This is really beneficial during the winter months.

4. Lactic Acid gently exfoliates the skin by sloughing off the dead skin cells giving your skin an overall appearance. It improves skins texture, promotes collagen growth, reduce wrinkles and fine lines and evens skin tone. It delivers deep hydration.
