7 Things You Should Know to Maintain Healthy Skin

Skin is the foundation to your outer beauty. Yes it’s true what’s inside shines outwardly. Yaaaas girl we know this all too well. You know the saying, "you are what you eat". Nutrition is a key factor to giving your organs what they need to give you the outer glow that you are constantly trying to achieve. I can't say that I don't blame you, it's a must that my skin looks hydrated and refreshed. There is absolutely no reason you should be walking around here looking like a dry sponge when there's so many skincare products on the market. Now that I've said all of that I do want to discuss a few things that you can do to make sure you age later and your one and only skin maintains that health that can be seen up close an afar. This was so hard for me to narrow down to 7 but I’ll give you my top 7 tips to keep your skin thriving and radiant through many obstacles in your lifetime.

  1. SPF 30+ is your best friend. No matter your skin complexion, slap on that spf. No one likes the leather look but hey if that’s what you’re going for then by all means skip this vital step to aging later. You know how leather looks when it start creasing and cracking. Yep go ahead skip this step if you want to.

  2. Never Sleep in your Makeup. I’m often asked how I maintain the health of my skin and my golden rule is I NEVER sleep in my makeup. Sleeping in makeup is giving bacteria a breeding ground because it prevents your skin from breathing and getting oxygen to kill off bacteria. If you have issues with this make sure you keep makeup removal wipes on your night stand.

  3. Get on a consistent skincare regimen and stick with it. Consistency is key. Fall in love with your skin, care for it like it’s your newborn baby. You never allow that baby to suffer and walk away. Your skin deserves the same level of love.

  4. Implement a Serum in your skincare regimen. This is for the 30+ crowd…I know you think you’re finer than a glass of wine and you know what, “You’re right!” However, your ass need to age later and that means implementing an anti-aging skin product into your regimen such as a serum.

  5. Drink that dang Watuh! Hydrate your skin by drinking an adequate amount of water. So what you don’t like the taste of. Experiment with the different types of fruit infused water to give it some flavor. Eat fruits and vegetables to get your water intake. Do what you have to do to get your water. This is vital to keeping your skin glowing and radiant.

  6. Eat healthy. Health is a lifestyle and every lifestyle is about commitment. You want to eat things that promote healthy outcomes. Personally, this is one of the most difficult lifestyle changes I’ve ever had to make. I’m committed to being the very best version of myself so that is my motivation. So, you have to have a strong “Why or who am I doing this for?” One amazing thing about this tip is it helps in every area of your life not just your skin.

  7. Stress…No Bueno. You have to let stress go. It’s weighing you down and messing your beautiful glow up. Find different ways to manage your stress level. Personally, I love journaling, reading and applying makeup. It's so therapeutic to me
